This exciting and very successful programme, which is run in partnership with Liverpool Children’s Services, is aimed at providing a routeway out of economic and social isolation. It is designed for Liverpool residents (the area could be expanded) who are unemployed or lone parents, and have children under the age of five. It is specifically designed to operate in disadvantaged communities and for individuals wishing to enter or return to employment or those who are wishing to gain new skills. The process involves a ten week voluntary period for anybody living in the area to apply.
After this period the candidate will be invited to a competitive interview, leading to a nine month employment contract from EGL. Vocations include nursery work, playwork, administration, dads/male carers work, and facilities assistance. During the employment period, the candidate embarks on an NVQ qualification for further career development, which enhances their future career options. Assistance to acquire employment after this nine-month phase is provided throughout the programme.
